Soccer

SOCCER IS A BALL GAME PLAYED BETWEEN TWO TEAMS, EACH ATTEMPTING TO WIN BY SCORING ON THEIR OPPONENT.  THE SIDE THAT SCORES THE MOST GOALS IS THE WINNER.  IT IS A VERY FAST PACED GAME WHERE THE PLAYERS MUST BE IN SHAPE TO COMPETE.

PLAYERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE THEIR HANDS OR ARMS TO CONTROL THE BALL. THEY CAN HOWEVER, PLAY THE BALL WITH ANY OTHER PART OF THEIR BODY.  THE ONLY PERSON PERMITTED TO USE THEIR HANDS IS THE GOALIE, WHILE THEY ARE IN THE PENALTY BOX IN FRONT OF THEIR GOAL.

Types of Soccer....

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF SOCCER: PEEWEE OR PETITE SOCCER, RECREATIONAL/INTRAMURAL SOCCER, AND TRAVEL SOCCER.

PEEWEE SOCCER IS YOUR CHILD'S FIRST INTRODUCTION TO THE SPORT. IT IS A NONCOMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT WHERE YOUR CHILD WILL BEGIN TO LEARN THE SKILLS, POSITIONS AND RULES OF SOCCER.

RECREATIONAL SOCCER FOCUSES MORE ON FUN THAN COMPETITION.  YOUR CHILD WILL NOT HAVE TO TRY OUT FOR THIS LEAGUE.  ALL CHILDREN ARE ACCEPTED AND EVERYONE WILL GET PLAY TIME.  DRILLS ARE PERFORMED TO PRACTICE BALL SKILLS AND FIELD POSITIONING.

TRAVEL SOCCER REQUIRES THAT CHILDREN  TRYOUT FOR A POSITION ON THE TEAM.  THERE ARE NO GEOGRAPHIC LIMITATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAVEL SOCCER TRYOUTS.  SKILL LEVEL IS VERY HIGH IN THESE LEAGUES AND COMPETITION IS TOUGH.  IN THIS LEAGUE YOUR CHILD'S SOCCER SKILLS WILL IMPROVE SUBSTANTIALLY SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE COMPETITION, DEDICATION, AND PRACTICE.

WINTER/INDOOR SOCCER  ALLOWS YOUR SOCCER LOVER TO MOVE INTO AN INDOOR FACILITY FOR THE WINTER MONTHS.  THE GAME IS VERY FAST-PACED WITH LOTS OF RUNNING.  THE FIELDS ARE SMALLER AND SO ARE THE TEAMS.
