Lacrosse

LACROSSE IS AN ACTION-PACKED SPORT THAT LOOKS SIMILAR TO FIELD HOCKEY AND SOCCER.    THE GAME IS PLAYED BETWEEN TWO TEAMS ON A RECTANGULAR FIELD WITH A GOAL AT EACH END.  THE OBJECT IS TO SCORE ON YOUR OPPONENT BY GETTING A SMALL, HARD RUBBER BALL INTO THE GOAL.  THE BALL IS CARRIED AND PASSED USING A STICK WITH A TRIANGULAR POCKET AT THE END.  THE SIDE THAT SCORES THE MOST GOALS WINS THE GAME.

LACROSSE IS A GAME THAT CAN BE PLAYED BY BOTH LARGE AND SMALL CHILDREN WHO HAVE GOOD COORDINATION AND AGILITY.  QUICKNESS AND SPEED ARE TWO HIGHLY PRIZED QUALITIES IN THE GAME OF LACROSSE. THE PLAYERS DEVELOP STAMINA FROM LONG SPRINTS UP AND DOWN THE FIELD.  PASSING IS ESSENTIAL TO THIS SPORT SO STRATEGY AND TEAM WORK  ARE CRUCIAL TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

Types of Lacrosse...

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF LACROSSE:  INSTRUCTIONAL LACROSSE, AND TRAVEL LACROSSE.

INSTRUCTIONAL LACROSSE FOCUSES ON HAVING FUN WHILE LEARNING THE GAME OF LACROSSE.  YOUR CHILD WILL NOT HAVE TO TRY OUT FOR THIS LEAGUE.  ALL CHILDREN ARE ACCEPTED AND EVERYONE WILL GET PLAY TIME.   YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN THE RULES OF LACROSSE, BALL HANDLING, CRADLING, PASSING AND CATCHING. A SENSE OF SPORTSMANSHIP AND TEAMWORK IS EMPHASIZED.

TRAVEL LEAGUE REQUIRES THAT THE CHILDREN  TRYOUT FOR A POSITION ON THE TEAM.    SKILL LEVEL IS VERY HIGH IN THESE LEAGUES AND COMPETITION IS TOUGH.  YOUR CHILD'S LACROSSE SKILLS WILL IMPROVE SUBSTANTIALLY SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE COMPETITION, DEDICATION, AND PRACTICE REQUIRED TO BE PART OF THE TEAM.
