Listed below are some of the best resorts for family vacations in the Bahamas, and Caribbean all with kid-friendly amenities and activities. 

Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas

This resort is a deluxe high rise with 2,300 rooms and a casino situated on the beach..  It is approximately 10 miles from the airport, and 1 mile from town.  Atlantis Paradise Island is one of the Bahama's most spectacular resorts, filled with activities sure to thrill and delight the entire family!

Accommodations....
Three towers make up the complex: the All Beach, Coral and--the newest--Royal Towers.  The maximum occupancy for these rooms are: 4 adults, 1 adult and 3 children, or 2 adults and 2 children

The Beach Tower rooms offer 2 double beds or 1 king bed and a full balcony. This is the most moderately priced tower and it is closest to the beach and adjacent to the lazy river ride.

The Coral Tower rooms offer 2 double beds or 1 king bed and a full balcony.  This 700 room facility is centrally located and adjacent to the entertainment complex.

Royal Towers rooms offer 2 queen beds or 1 king bed and a French (step-out) balcony.  This tower offers the most luxurious accommodations at Atlantis with spectacular views, and upgraded accommodations. The Imperial Club is the Concierge level in Royal Towers with VIP service.

Amenities....
This wonderful resort has 11 swimming areas, including a lazy river for rafting, a snorkeling lagoon, shallow fresh water children's pools and a six-story "Mayan temple" with five waterslides. You will also find the world's largest outdoor aquarium and a private island housing Atlantic bottleneck dolphins that you can swim with.

For the athletic traveler there is tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, table tennis, 18-hole putting course, and a driving range.   A fitness center and a lap pool are also available.

Kids programs....
In addition, The Discovery Kids Adventure program keeps guests ages 6 to 12 busy, and Club Rush is a pre-teen/teen nightclub exclusively for the 6-12 year old kids in the early evening and the 13-to-17 group at night (No Parents Allowed).

Dining....
Atlantis offers a large variety of restaurants for your dining pleasure.  You will find everything from burgers to fine dining. Chinese, American, French Asian, Italian and Japanese restaurants are all available.  Please be advised that it is recommended that reservations for dinner be made 14 days prior to arrival!   Dining plans are available to help maintain a budget.

Weather....
The Bahamas does not experience extreme temperatures and weather is generally good year round.  Average temperatures range from 84 degrees F in the summer to 75 degrees F in the winter.  May thru September is considered summer and temperatures range from 78 degrees F at night to 90 degrees F during the day.  Winter is from October thru April and temperatures range from 60 degrees F at night to 75 degrees F during the day.

Beaches resorts in Jamaica and Turks and Caicos

Beaches welcomes singles, couples, families with children and groups of friends to some of the Caribbean's most attractive vacation spots. White, sandy shores stretch on for miles, allowing plenty of room for playing and relaxing. There are three properties in Jamaica and one in Turks and Caicos. This resort is Jamaica's ultimate all-inclusive, featuring 215 rooms and suites set on the widest stretch of Negril's famous seven-mile beach. It is located 50 miles from the airport on twenty lush acres. Three buildings make up the complex: Santa Cruz, Savannah and Montpelier.

Beaches Sandy Bay is located 50 miles from the airport on a quiet stretch of seven sublime miles of powdery-white-sand beach. Sandy Bay, offers the quality of Beaches Resorts but at a great value.  Everyone is welcome, singles, couples and families.

Beaches Boscobel Resort and Gulf Club, Jamaica

This fantastic resort is located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica approximately two hours from the airport. Beaches Boscobel is paradise for children as well as adults.  While the kids are at play, in the supervised camps, so are you!  You can choose from championship-level golf, land sports, watersports or a magnificent beach or pool.

Supervised camp is available for children of all ages and is distinguished by age.  The Kids Kamp is an area especially designed to accommodate guests 12 years and under. The activities are wide and varied to ensure that every child who vacations here has a fun-filled and memorable time. The Nursery is broken into under 2 years and 2-3 years. While the babies under 2 years spend most of their day indoors, being pampered by our co-coordinators, the 2 and 3 year olds do organized activities ranging from arts & crafts to games on the beach.

Accommodations....
Here you will find a impressive variety of rooms and suites. The accommodations range from the penthouse suite with a massive private deck to family rooms with plenty of room for everyone.  Rooms are available with 2 double beds and a double pull out sofa or a king bed and a double pull-out sofa with a maximum occupancy of 5 people.  Suites can accommodate either four or five people and sleeping arrangements vary.  They also include a sitting area, suite concierge service and a stocked in-room bar.

Dining....
A variety of  restaurants are available for your dining pleasure.  You can find everything from burgers to gourmet meals.  Italian, Caribbean, Tex-Mex and international cuisines are all available. Eleanor's is open for dinner only and caters to just adults.  When you make your reservations be sure to check to see what the dress code is for the restaurant.  The following dress codes apply:

This wonderful resort is located 15 minutes from the Providenciales International Airport. It is settled along a 12 mile stretch of beach with pristine white sand.  It overlooks water of a thousand turquoise hues, and is bordered by a stunning natural reef.   Beaches Turks & Caicos pairs the best of two opposite worlds – the sun warmed spirit of the tropics, with the sophisticated style of Paris. The room selection at Beaches Turkes and Caicos is outstanding.  The accommodations range from a family room to a three bedroom suite.  The premium and deluxe rooms have a maximum occupancy of 4 people.  The one bedroom suite can accommodate 5 people and the two bedroom can house 8 people.  The three bedroom suite will sleep 11 people. All suites also include a sitting area, suite concierge service and a stocked in-room bar.

Dining....
Beaches Turks & Caicos has 10 fantastic restaurants with an array of cuisines.  You will find everything from hamburgers to gourmet food.  You can select from Oriental, Southwestern, French,  Italian and International cuisines.

The following dress codes apply so be sure to check with the restaurant to determine the proper attire:

  • Resort Evening:
    Dress pants for men. Shirts with sleeves and collar. Dress shoes.

FDR Pebbles, Runaway Bay, Jamaica

FDR Pebbles offers an exciting and affordable holiday for families vacationing in the Caribbean. This wonderful resort is located on Jamaica's north coast  which is approximately 30 minutes from the  airport in Montego Bay. Nestled between the turquoise Caribbean and picturesque green mountains, opportunities for adventure abound for all members of your family. On arrival, families with small children are assigned their own Vacation Nanny. Your Vacation Nanny will take your children to the pool or their favorite activity.  Young children will enjoy shell-collecting, tie dye, arts and crafts and talent show.  Your teens can participate in sports tournaments, cook-outs, rap sessions , Reggae dance lessons, beach parties, field trips,  and camping.  At Pebbles there is an  emphasis on learning as well as fun. You will learn about the history of the island firsthand and experience the ecology of the coral reefs and their surroundings, including the "Eighth Wonder of the World": the luminous lagoon.

Accommodations....
Deluxe, air conditioned junior suites, are nestled among the trees with ocean views and a mountainous backdrop. All rooms have a king size bed, balcony, Cable TV, mini refrigerator, day bed in the living room and  bathroom. These suites are distinctly Caribbean in flavor, design and color and stretch along  600-foot beach. Maximum occupancy: 2 adults and 3 children under 16 years old.

Dining....
There is a choice of 3 restaurants , all by the sea,  that offer dining choices for everyone. From International to Italian, to Jamaican, to Kids Meals, there are choices to tempt everyone's palate. All suites, \are just steps from the Caribbean sea and are complete with living room and dining area, stocked refrigerator and spacious balcony or garden terrace. Almond Smugglers Cove, St. Lucia

This wonderful resort is located on the Northwest Coast of St. Lucia on Cap Estate and is approximately 15 minutes from the airport. Almond Smugglers Cove is a spacious, village-style resort set in sixty acres of lush tropical gardens on a secluded bay. This newly refurbished resort, 2007, offers extensive facilities making it a great destination for singles, couples and families.

Kids Programs...
Programs have been
designed to provide educational fun for children from newborns to teens. Supervised age-specific children's activities are scheduled daily. Children 0–23 months are cared for at the nursery.  Children ages 2-4 will enjoy pool activities, movies, arts and crafts and outdoor play.  Kids clubs for the 5-12 year olds will enjoy such things as tie-dying, jewelry making, pool activities. arts and crafts, badminton, beach cricket, volleyball, board games and more.  The teen center allows your 13 and older children to enjoy pool volleyball, badminton, beach cricket, pool, board games, Nintendo, dances, movies and junior chef.

Accommodations...
The resort's 360 rooms, in five categories ranging from standard to deluxe to one bedroom suites,  are located in single-story buildings set in the tropical gardens or overlooking Smugglers Cove.  King or twin beds are available. All rooms have a maximum capacity of 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child  except for the one bedroom suite which will house 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children.

Dining....
Almond Smugglers Cove has a selection of 4 gourmet restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and a la carte dinner.  The 4 restaurants offer a choice of delicious cuisine and fine wines. Included are a continental-style restaurant, a casual Italian restaurant, a seafood restaurant and an adults-only, traditional St. Lucian restaurant.

A Special Bonus:

Adjacent to Almond Smugglers Cove resort, is The Great House, a gourmet restaurant acclaimed as one of St. Lucia's finest dining experiences. This grand plantation house is not part of the Almond premium all-inclusive program, but as a special consideration, guests of Almond Smugglers Cove wishing to dine at The Great House will receive a credit to use against the expense.

The tropical climate and relaxed atmosphere of St. Lucia lend themselves nicely to casual attire. Shoes must be worn, bathing suits must be covered and men are required to wear shirts with sleeves in all restaurants. After 6 pm, nice casual attire is suggested (no shorts or shorts ensembles).

In addition, one bedroom suites accommodating 4 adults or 4 adults and 1 child under 16 are available.  They consist of a spacious bedroom with an adjoining living area.

Dining....
Almond Beach Village  offers several fine-dining restaurants. The Reef features elegant outdoor dining beside the Caribbean and specializes in local and continental seafood cuisine.   Enids, meanwhile, serves Bajan style dining and local cuisine. La Smarrita is an Italian Restaurant that is for adults only.  Horizon restaurant offers more informal family meals specializing in continental cuisine

In the restaurants, shoes must be worn, bathing suits must be covered and men do not wear tank tops or sleeveless shirts. After 6:30pm men have to wear slacks and women wear dresses, slacks, or culottes (no shorts or short outfits).

Weather....
The weather in Barbados is normally warm and sunny all year round with an average daytime high of 75 - 85°F. The nights are usually slightly cooler. There is a constant tradewind that adds a refreshing breeze to the warm days.
