Halloween Recipes for a Kid's Party

Pets and Halloween Halloween Tailgating Halloween Fun Halloween Tradition - Ghosting or Booing
Review of Arasapha Haunted Hayride and Bates Motel A soldier's Halloween treat  Halloween Games  Halloween Recipes

As a girl scout leader for many years and a homeroom parent for both of my children I have planned many Halloween Parties.  You will find some great Halloween recipes for kid's parties listed below.

HALLOWEEN PARTY RECIPES

Pumpkin Veggie Tray

Things you need...

Large serving tray
Large bag of baby carrots
1 cucumber
1 head of broccoli
1 pkg veggie dip
Small bowls to be used for eyes and nose

How to make it...

Create an outline of your pumpkin with the carrots. Once it is perfect carefully fill in the circle with the remainder of the carrots.  Remove enough of the carrots to make a smile and fill it with cucumber slices.  Set the carrots that you removed on top of the other carrots within your pumpkin.  Fill your small dishes with veggie dip and shimmy them into place where you want the eyes and nose to be located.  Slice off the tops of the broccoli and place it on top of your pumpkin to create a stem.

Mummy Cup Cakes

Compliments of:  life-in-the-lofthouse.com

Make 18 chocolate cupcakes according to package
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened to room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons boiling water
1 bag M&Mís

Combine powdered sugar, butter, vanilla and boiling water in a medium bowl. Mix all together with a spatula until combined. Spoon mixture into a sandwich baggie.

Cut off a small piece of one corner of the baggie. Pipe frosting onto each cupcake in a zig zag.
Top each cupcake with two M&Mís to create the Mummy face.

Edible Eye Balls
Ingredients
1 powdered donut hole for each child
1 gummy life saver (for the iris of the eye)
1 chocolate chip (for the pupil)
1 tube of red GEL icing

Preparation
Use red gel to glue candy in place and for making the eye ball look blood shot

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Pretzel Rods
3 or more bags of melting chocolate
(depends on the number of kids)
Halloween Sprinkles
Wax Paper

Melt chocolate in crock pot on high stirring occasionally.  Once chocolate is melted have kids dip the pretzel into the chocolate and then into the sprinkles.  Give them a piece of wax paper to put it on to dry.

Black Punch
Ingredients
1 (13 ounce) envelope unsweetened grape soft drink mix
1 (13 ounce) envelope unsweetened orange soft drink mix
2 cups white sugar
3 quarts cold water
1 liter ginger ale

Preparations
Stir together grape soft drink mix, orange soft drink mix, sugar and water until solids are dissolved. Combine with chilled ginger ale just before serving.

Add to the Fun
For ice make a frozen hand by washing a disposable glove, filling it with water, sealing and freezing.  Dip the frozen hand briefly in warm water, and then peel off the glove. Float the prepared hand in the punch bowl.  A black cauldron can be used for a great effect.

Chocolate Ghost Cookies
Ingredients
1 lb. white chocolate coating
1 pkg. Nutter Butter Peanut Bars
1 pkg. mini chocolate chips

Preparation
In the top of a double boiler melt white chocolate coating. Dip cookies into coating covering completely. Set on waxed paper to cool. Spread melted chocolate to areas which did not get covered. Add eyes using mini chocolate chips.

Witch Hat Cookies
Ingredients
Fudge Stripe Cookie
Hershey Kiss
Orange or black frosting

Preparation
Turn the cookie over on the solid chocolate side. Squeeze a blob of ornge frosting onto the middle of the cookie. Squash the kiss into the orange frosting. The frosting will hold the kiss, and then you have a Witch's Hat Cookie! These are great for a party or for school.  Note: You can use either orange or black frosting.

Bloody Popcorn

Pop up some popcorn and using butter spray, lightly spray the popcorn and mix as you spray so it's all covered.  Sprinkle with paprika or a red colored season salt constantly mixing to coat all kernels.

Halloween Magic Wands
Pretzel Rods, dipped in chocolate and rolled in sugar sprinkles. Looks like a magic wand dipped in glitter

Carrot-Finger Food

Ingredients
Carrots ( 4 long, 1 medium)
Bag or two of baby carrots
Vegetable dip (any kind)

Preparations
Fill a serving bowl with your favorite vegetable dip. Wash and peel 4 long carrots for fingers and 1 medium carrot for a thumb. Cut a flat, shallow notch in the tip of each carrot. Then use a dab of dip or softened cream cheese to glue a sliced-almond fingernail atop each notch. Stick the fingers in the dip, with fingernails upward, and serve with plenty of peeled baby carrots for dipping.

Creepy Ghost Cupcakes

Use a favorite recipe, to bake 24 cupcakes and then set your guests to work.

Ingredients
24 Nutter-Butter cookies
Chocolate frosting
Vanilla frosting
Tube of chocolate decorator's icing

Preparations
Place chocolate frosting on the cupcake with a little extra in the center.  Cover one Nutter Butter with vanilla frosting and use tube of decoratorís icing to create the face of the ghost.  Place the ghost on the cupcake using the icing as glue.

Ghostly Bananas and Pumpkin Orange Tray

For banana ghosts simply cut a banana  in half and add chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth. The pumpkin oranges can be made by using a peeled Clementine or small orange and adding a piece of celery for the stem.  Compliments of Pinterest.

Jello Monster

Compliments of Echos of Laughter

Fill plastic cups with orange jello and then decorate with candy to make monster faces.

Mummy Apples

Use gauze to wrap green apples to resemble mummies and add some candy eye balls and you have a simple and cute Halloween treat.

Candy Centerpiece

Fill a terra cotta pot with rice.  Take wooden skewers and add your favorite Halloween Candy to it.  Place skewer into rice -- there you have an edible centerpiece.  You can make one skewer per guest and use large pots or multiple small pots.

Mummy Juice Boxes

Items Needed...

Juice boxes, 3/4"x66" white electrical tape, adhesive-backed googly eyes.

How to Make it....

Ghoulish Candy Bars

Items Needed...

Large HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Bars
Adhesive-backed googly eyes
Crepe paper in white, lime green and orange

How to Make it...

Tape crepe paper to the back of the hershey bar and then begin to wrap it around the entire bar overlapping each layer. You should end it on the back of the candy bar and then place a apiece of tape to hold it in place.  Once finished separate two layers slightly and add the googly eyes.
