Halloween Tradition - Ghosting or Booing

   Halloween Ghosting IdeaS

Boo or Ghost your friends on Halloween.

Ghosting is fast becoming a popular Halloween tradition in the United States This is a great way to start the Halloween season and to have a great deal of fun in your neighborhood.  It is known as "Ghosting" or "Booing", depending where you are from, but the concept is the same.  It is best to start the first or second week in October to allow sufficient time for everyone to be "ghosted."   It can be as elaborate or simple as you like.  Simply use your imagination to create a "Booful" experience.  Get the kids involved they all love craft projects.

The idea is to create a package of goodies for a neighbor or friend with a note stating to do the same for someone else in the neighborhood.   It can be place in a Halloween container like a plastic pumpkin, witches hat, or a cone made out of cardboard.  It should be decorated with festive ribbons, fringe, glitter, paint, helium balloons, crepe paper etc...  Use the Halloween Poem below or create your own and attach a copy of the Halloween Poem to the decorated container.

Add a Ghost cut out with the words "We have been Ghosted" printed on it.  Give instructions to place this ghost on or near their front door.  This will "mark" the house, allowing others to know that they've already been "ghosted".

Wait until it is dark and place the "Boo Treat" on the doorstep or door handle at the house of a friend or neighbor.  Ring the door bell and run as quick as you can.  You do not want to get caught because the fun is for the family you "ghosted" to try and figure out who delivered the treat package to their door.

Halloween is here again,
We would like to do something special for a friend!

Ghosts, goblins and zombies galore,
A visit from someone but who? --  You are not sure.

Take the ghost and pin it on your door,
Let others know, you need ghosting no more.

Just two short days to work your spell,
It must be secret so no one can tell.

Create a package with treats galore,
Decide the neighbor who will find it at their front door.

Include a ghost with each package you give,
Along with this poem for the tradition to live.

Once you have pressed the front door bell,
Move real quick so no one can tell.

As this greeting moves along from friend to friend,
All good wishes will never end.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS!
