Tips for Post Prom Party on School Property Pictures - Post Prom Decorations

Graduations are always exciting events.  It is a time to reflect on the past and wonder about the future.  The graduate has accomplished an important goal in their life and it should be a time to celebrate.  Often when you are invited to a graduation party you have a difficult time trying to decide on the right present for the graduate.  Listed below are many ideas that range from practical to extravagant so hopefully it will make your decision easier.

Graduation Gifts

If you are trying to determine what to buy the new graduate you should think of it in terms of practical, memorable or extravagant gifts.  If you can narrow it down to a category it will make the decision process a little easier

Practical Presents

  • College wear - Why not purchase a sweatshirt, hat, tee shirt or fleece from the school the grad will be attending.
  • Gift cards for Target, Staples, Wal-Mart, Pier 1, Barnes and Noble, Borders, or Best Buy will be appreciated when the grad needs to purchase all of the dorm/school products necessary.
  • Gift Card for the school book store.
  • Gift Cards for Restaurants near college or Starbucks.
  • A gift certificate package.  Anticipate the grads needs for the semester/year and choose gift certificates that will be in close proximity of the campus. Pizza and fast food restaurants, local malls,  book stores, grocery stores, CVS, Target, Wal-Mart and movie theaters as well as ITunes.
  • Spa Gift baskets containing toiletries required for dorm life.  Include soap, shampoo, condition, tooth brush, tooth paste, bath towels etc...
  • Laundry Basket Full of Goodies such as laundry soap, softener, dryer sheets, roll of quarters and directions on how to separate laundry.
  • Cash is always appreciated.  Make your check increments for the graduation year.  For example $20.09, $200.09, $2000.09.
  • A good set of luggage can go a long way for a graduate.
  • Magazine subscription.

  • Start a stock/bond portfolio.  A great way to help secure their future.
  • Purchase college credits for your graduate. You can arrange this with the school so that you have prepaid a certain number of classes for the semester or for subsequent semesters.
  • Trip gift certificate or travel package for a surprise vacation.
  • For the adventure seeker how about a day race car driving, hot air ballooning or skydiving.
  • Technology gifts including a laptop computer, All In One Printer, IPod, or cell phone/phone cards. A  Flash Drive/ CD-RW's/ Floppy's are always needed for school.
  • Reliable transportation - purchase a new or slightly used ( with warranty) vehicle for your responsible graduate.
  • A substantial amount of cash would fall into the extravagant category.
  • Small Refrigerator, television, or DVD player.

  • Tickets to a sporting event or concert are a fun gift.
  • Jewelry - watches, rings, earrings, necklaces or bracelets are always a nice keepsake.
  • Digital camera and/or photo printer.
  • A personal item of yours to pass along to your child like a jewelry, art, china or stock.
  • My personal favorite and a gift that I gave as part of my son's High School Graduation Present:   Pocono Racecar Experience -- drive or ride in a stockcar at high speeds around the Pocono Raceway.  Click here for All Star Activities Stock Car Review.
